The Drew University Women’s Fencing Team went three-for-three at the Eastern Women’s Fencing Conference Dual Meet Championship.
The tournament was round-robin style with six colleges held at Hunter College last Sunday. The Rangers ended in fourth place behind Johns Hopkins University, Stevens Institute of Technology and Haverford College.
The last two years have ended in losses for Drew after having had a six-year winning streak.
In the first round, Drew beat Yeshiva University 15-12. In the second round, the Rangers won over the City College of New York, again with three points at 15-12.
The fencers took a turn in the third round with a drastic 18-9 loss to Johns Hopkins. Another unfortunate loss for the Rangers in the fifth and sixth rounds against Haverford and Stevens ended 18-9 and 17-10, respectively. Things picked up for the Drew women in the final round with a 14-13 victory against Hunter College.
The fencers compete at Stevens on Sunday.
