Second annual swim-a-thon tomorrow

Famous for showcasing his unique wrestling-like antics prior to competitions, 10-time Olympic medalist swimmer Gary Hall Jr. knows what it takes to draw a crowd. After raising $300 toward diabetes research last year, the Drew University men's and women's swim teams already accumulated over 15 times that amount in 2008.

Despite loss, swimming retains drive

The men's swim team started its season on Saturday, though it still is looking for its first win. Swimming at Ramapo in its season opener, the team put forth an impressive effort. Jereon Fabricant ('12) won two events in his first meet as a Ranger. Fabricant won the 1000 meter freestyle in remarkable fashion as he not only shaved 40 seconds off his previous best, but also finished almost two minutes ahead of his competition.

Fines and penalties soften hard hits

Growing up, my favorite sport fluctuated in correspondence with the seasons. In the warmer months I was all about the American pastime, when the air was cool and crisp it was pickup football games on Saturday and a football-filled spectacle on TV all day Sunday.

Swim team launches successful start to season

The women's swimming team opened up their season on Saturday against Ramapo College. The team put up a strong effort in their first meet but they lost to Ramapo 107-90. Despite the loss, there were still many bright spots throughout the meet for the team.

Loss to Ducks ends Rangers' season

After an upsetting end to their regular season play with a loss to Moravian College, the Rangers were given the opportunity to enter the post-season with an Eastern College Athletic Conference bid. The Rangers matched up against Stevens Institute of Technology for the first round of the ECAC's.

Equestrian on fast track to Regionals

On Saturday, the Rangers took part in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association horse show hosted by Stevens Institute of Technology at Centenary College. The Rangers had a very successful day as they finished in second place out of 11 colleges, including Bard College, Centenary College and State University of New York at New Paltz.

Tennis gives back to community

If that's true, then the members of the men's and women's tennis teams are just a little bit more dutiful than the next Drewid. Sunday, the tennis teams will be holding an instructional clinic open to the public in the Simon Forum from 3 p.

Fencing's early wins show frosh promise

The Fencing team launched their young and deep team against competitive teams at Vassar College last Tuesday. The Drew men's and women's varsity fencing teams played Vassar College, Yeshiva University, and Rutgers University at Vassar's venue. Both teams walked away victorious, winning most of their bouts.
