Judy Miller works in her Mead Hall office. She has worked alongside outgoing College of the Liberal Arts Dean Paolo Cucchi for almost a quarter century.

In addition to losing well-loved Dean of the College of Liberal Arts Paolo Cucchi when the spring semester ends, the Drew community will also face the loss of longtime staff member Administrative Assistant to the Dean Judy Miller.

Miller, a Drew University alumna (CLA '62), has worked under Cucchi for as long as he has been the dean of the College of Liberal Arts. In 1984, she began as Cucchi's secretary and worked with him in Brothers College. "It's been great since day one," Miller said. She enjoyed working in Brothers College, where she interacted with both students and faculty members on a daily basis.

It is here that she was able to observe Cucchi's interactions with the Drew community, which she said is one of his strengths. Miller describes Cucchi as caring and compassionate man who was committed to ensuring that everyone in the community was happy. "He works well with everyone," Miller said. "No matter how busy he is, he always has time to talk to people."

When Cucchi made the move to Mead Hall in 1996, Miller went with him. While she does miss the bustle of Brothers College, she enjoys her work as his administrative assistant. Her duties include recordkeeping, assisting with the budget and working with various faculty members. She will be sad to see Cucchi leave Drew. "It's a real loss to the University," Miller said.

As Cucchi's tenure at Drew University comes to a close, Miller's does as well. She says that she told Cucchi she would stay on as long as he did, and now plans to retire. Although she will no longer be working at Drew, she plans to stay busy. She intends to spend time at her Beach Haven condo, where she will pass the time tending her garden and working on plans for her daughter's Sept. wedding. She also plans to work in an animal shelter.

Miller recalls only fond memories working for Cucchi. "It's been a dream job," she said.
