Goalkeeper Michael Celentano ('09) made eight saves in the Rangers' game against New York Institute of Technology.

The men's lacrosse team earned its fourth straight win on the April 2 against Montclair State University 13-8 at Ranger Stadium after dominating the third quarter. Brad Mendelson ('10) and Michael Celentano ('09) collectively made 14 big saves and were able to keep the Red Hawks high-scorer Bryan Klimchak to just two goals.

The first period started out slow as neither team was able to make a strong offensive start. The Rangers' strong defense wouldn't allow the Red Hawks to take the lead and it was the fifth straight game in which the Rangers allowed 10 goals or fewer.

With 39 seconds left, Rob Budziszewki ('08) made a mark on the score with the help of fellow Landmark Conference Player of the Week Michael DeGiovanni ('09). Just 18 seconds later, the Red Hawks won the faceoff and Tyler Meixner grabbed a goal of his own to tie it up.

The second would be much more exciting as Montclair took another two goals with the help of Meixner and Kevin Dyer to make it 3-1.

Jon Dowiak owned the face-off this game and sent it over to Budziszewki, who got his second goal of the game. Jon Bucknam ('10) and Mike Sayers ('10) tied the game with 10 minutes left.

Just a minute later, DeGiovanni made an impressive distance shot after a pass near half-field that the keeper was unable to defend. Montclair tied the score with four minutes left but Greg Reading's ('10) unassisted goal assured the lead with two minutes left going into the half.

Reading continued the Rangers' lead at the start of the third with another goal and Sayers had a pair of his own within four minutes of one another and made the score 8-4. At 4:17 left, the Rangers' defense let one slide to midfielder Mario Passfiume ('09) but Dowiak quickly won another face-off to hand to Reading for another goal. Budziszewki took a final goal 30 seconds later and Celentano's save at the end of the third showed that the Rangers defense has continued to grow stronger with each passing game.

Sean McNulty's ('09) pass to Budziszewki at the start of the last quarter gave another goal, followed by Reading and his fourth of the game with the help of Steve Carnes ('10). The Rangers' lead was the largest of the game at 12-5 when big-scorer Klimchak made a mark on the game with 10 minutes left. Bucknam fought back with one of his own and Klimchak had one more along with A.J. Bachman with four minutes left. The Red Hawks were no match against the Rangers' defense, which was the key component to their big win aside from big scorers Budziszewki and Reading, along with 34 ground balls as a whole.
