Nineteen-year-old Drew student Kirsten Crowe ('11) of Palisades, Calif. made The Star Ledger this week following her arrest Monday on counts of aggravated assault and terroristic threats.
At 1:44 a.m. on Saturday, Public Safety received a phone call reporting a fight amongst students in Brown Hall, Director of Public Safety Chief Tom Evans said.
By the time officers arrived on the scene, the fight was over. "The altercation was broken up by other students," Evans said.
Madison Police and the Madison Volunteer Ambulance Corps were dispatched to the scene at 1:50 a.m., following reports of an injury.
Evans said the victim, another 19-year-old freshman girl, was sitting on the steps of Brown Hall when Public Safety reached her.
"She reported that she was unconscious for a minute," Evans said.
The victim was taken via ambulance to Morristown Memorial Hospital for treatment for a wrist injury incurred in the scuffle. "It was either badly sprained or might have a small break," Madison Police Detective John Trevena said. Evans said the victim had to return to the hospital later to get her wrist examined again.
The Madison Police report states that the victim claimed she had gotten into a fight with Crowe over a male student they both knew. The victim returned to campus after treatment.
Later that Saturday, Madison Police Detective James Haspel took statements from the victim as other student witnesses and charges were prepared against Crowe, the report states.
"On Monday [the victim] signed assault complaints against Kirsten," Evans said. Crowe was charged with both aggravated assault and terroristic threats, Trevena said.
"She was yelling at the victim that she was going to kill her," Trevena said. "And based on her actions, the victim felt that that was a valid threat."
After the incident, Crowe's mother flew in from California to take her home, Trevena said.
Crowe and her mother met with Evans on Monday, Evans said.

Really?.. no one is going to comment on this
The Acorn has turned into a gossip column, this is the second story in the past semester that they have run on the front page about a students arrest. (Continued…)

I'm confused as to why the student newspaper is being asked to have sympathy for students who have broken the law. Not running articles like these two arrest stories out of fear of furthering a student's self-induced problematic situations would be biased, and The Acorn would be censoring itself--which is the worst thing a paper could do. If the acorn ran these stories in a consistent manner that would be fine, whatever. Last semester there were two arrests in the same week, neither of which made the front page. (Continued…)

Umm, correct me if I'm wrong but aren't you a little biased Henry being the current boyfriend of the accused Crowe? I mean really now if this wasn't your friend or love, you wouldn't even bother to care about it. (Continued…)
