This semester, Drew University will be seeing one fewer face, the library's Cheryl Oestreicher, who has left the school to pursue new career goals.

Oestreicher, formerly the University Archives Associate in the campus library, has entered a new position as an archivist at the Joseph Regenstein Library at the University of Chicago, the largest of the college's seven libraries.

Oestreicher hails from the Midwest, and had been looking for a prospective reason to return home. When offered the position in Chicago, she decided it was "an opportunity she couldn't refuse," says Dean of Libraries and Senior Librarian Andrew Scrimgeour.

Oestreicher is now part of a "very prestigious department" of the University of Chicago and she is "highly qualified," said Scrimgeour, emphasizing her capability as an employee.

He describes Oestreicher as "a whirlwind of energy and ideas, she used technology in very creative ways." She was an asset to Drew's library staff. "She did terrific work for us," Scrimgeour continued, "and we hated to lose her, it was a tearful goodbye." He has faith that she will maintain her good work and will be happy with the new career. For the time being, no one has replaced Oestreicher. Due to budget conflicts, the position has been frozen, and may not be active again for quite some time, Scrimgeour said.
