Last Tuesday, Drew University's women's tennis team played against New York University.
Practices have been tough recently, and because of the late snow many matches have been cancelled.
Unfortunately, for Tuesday's match, two of the team's starting players, senior Crystal Vo and junior Alex Holzman, could not compete.
"Well overall, I feel we put in as good a showing as we could considering we were short two of our starting players," senior Dragana Trivic said. "This meant that the doubles teams were playing together for the first time, and also playing a spot or two spots up on the lineup. The same happened for singles. That being said, our efforts and the quality of the matches are not reflected fully in the scores, and we feel good overall about our performance."
"The match was OK. I definitely didn't feel like I played my best today," freshman Michelle Gbelama said. "It wasn't a good day for our team, because we didn't have two of our players and before the match our fifth singles got hurt, so she was unable to play her single match. Overall, even though I didn't do so well in my single match, I tried to stay confident and finish with graceful attitude."
The women's team is currently 1-2 and has upcoming matches with Elizabethtown College on April 1, Haverford College on April 13 and Hunter College on April 18.They will be the final matches of the season.
With the recent spring weather, Drew can look forward to seeing more action on the courts in the coming weeks.
