President-elect Weisbuch,

Congratulations from all of us at The Acorn. We would like to welcome you to the University. Judging from your enthusiasm thus far, it seems as if the 14-member Presidential Search Committee -- which chose you from more than 100 candidates -- made the right choice.

You may find that while your past experiences will prove helpful, Drew is a unique campus with an attitude unlike any other university. Drew students operate both as powerful individuals and influential groups, have distinct ideas and goals specific to this community and will work tirelessly to see their potential realized.

We'd like to propose some simple ideas for you, to help ease you into your "freshman" year in the Forest.

The most important thing we'd like to recommend is to do the little things. We don't need a new dormitory or renovations to any more pipes. We need you to be accessible to us, so that we can feel like our individual voices are heard. Make an office hour like President Kean did. Eat lunch in the Commons with us -- no matter how terrible the food is. Walk the paths and talk to students on their way to class. You'll find that the Drew population appreciates nothing more than an intelligent and insightful leader who's willing to listen to the thoughts of a few young adults. The Drew community needs to know that you are here for the right reasons, and among your other commitments, it would mean a lot to us if Drew is your biggest one.

President Kean was a fantastic man, and a fantastic president, too. But don't think we're going to suffer from Kean-withdrawal. This job was given to you so that you can better Drew, and help elevate us even further than President Kean did. With that in mind, don't worry about the past here. Look forward to the future, just like we're all doing.

It's the little things, President Weisbuch, that have made Drew a success in the collegiate world. It's the little things that will help make you a success in the Forest. We all look forward to seeing what you've got in store for us.
