Last semester I was accused of having an addiction. According to my friends, I was a gossip addict, so I turned to people.com in my desperation. If perezhilton.com was my heroin, then People was my methodone-a cleaner version, but way less interesting.
In order to have a little sleaze in my life I started watching “Jersey Shore.” I am in love with this show. Even though it gives where I come from a bad name, I still can’t help but laugh when Pauly D walks out on the “grenade” or when they all try to “beat the beat” at a club. While this show has faced its fair share of opposition, the whole group seems to be coming back for a second season, maybe even Angelina. MTV producers have said that while the cast is returning, the show will no longer be filmed in Seaside Heights. Instead MTV has allegedly asked all cast members to validate their passports, according to TMZ. I don’t know if the world is ready for this type of Situation, but I certainly am.
While MTV worries about where to place Snooks and company, John Edwards now has to worry about what is going to become of his political career. He admitted to cheating on his wife of 32 years and had a child with his mistress, Rielle Hunter, and now Elizabeth Edwards has finally had enough. Elizabeth reportedly decided to leave John after meeting the 23-month-old baby last December. Elizabeth is on her second bout with cancer, just two years after her first fight. It takes a strong woman to leave a politician while experiencing this. It is time that someone shows these politicians that cheating is not okay. While they are currently separated, the couple may not be getting divorce. According to People Magazine, “Elizabeth, has had divorce papers at the ready for a year. Whether or not she files likely depends on her health, a source says.”
On a lighter note, it is officially Oscars season. Nominations were announced the morning of Feb. 2. This year the Oscars have not five, but 10 best picture nominations, including “Avatar,” “The Hurt Locker,” and “Up.” I can see all of these movies being nominated, but I was shocked that “The Blind Side” also got a nod. Was it really that good? It will definitely be an interesting awards show considering that both “The Hurt Locker” and “Avatar” have 9 nominations and directors Kathryn Bigelow and James Cameron were married for two years. The Academy Awards, hosted by Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin, will air on March 7. Tune in for the drama. I know I will.

Also about the Oscars, I hope that the Jersey Shore group makes a guest appearance and everyone loves them so much that they change it's name to the Snookars next year and hand out pickles as the award.
